The fourth graders are incredibly excited to begin playing the baritone ukulele! As the largest instrument in the ukulele family, it produces a wonderfully rich sound. During this unit, the students will learn how to play several chords and use them to accompany songs. The best part is that the baritone ukulele shares the same tuning as the highest four strings of a standard guitar, so the fingerings they learn now will give them a fantastic head start if they ever decide to pick up the guitar in the future.
We also wanted to thank the East China Educational Foundation as well as the Palms PTO, for their help in purchasing a ukulele storage cart. This will make them more accessible and save valuable class time. Thank you!
