Staff from across the East China School District came together to officially kick off a new school year during our annual Welcome Back event. A morning filled with inspiration, reflection, recognition, and connection.
Superintendent Suzanne Cybulla opened the day by sharing an inspiring message centered on the importance of connection. Through stories and personal reflections, she reminded staff that the work we do every day is about much more than academics; it is about the relationships we build and the impact we have on students, families, and one another.
Her message then transitioned into a special tribute to Pete Fox, whose recent passing has deeply affected our school community. The tribute provided an opportunity for staff to pause, remember Pete, and reflect on the lasting impact he had on those around him.
The morning continued with an important East China School District tradition: recognizing the dedication and commitment of our staff.
Dawn Demick recognized employees celebrating 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 30+ years of service to our district. To close out the morning, Joe Beckman, author and speaker of Just Look Up, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking message. His presentation encouraged staff to look up, look around, and be intentional about the people and moments right in front of us. His message was a powerful reminder of the importance of being present, making connections, and recognizing the opportunities we have each day to make a difference.
As we begin a new school year, today’s Welcome Back set the tone for what lies ahead: connection, purpose, gratitude, and a shared commitment to our students and one another.
